A Look at
NBA Betting Stats This Season
A little
over a month into the 2020-21 NBA season and already we see some interesting
numbers. Teams have played roughly 20 games thus far and already four teams
have at least 15 wins.
That
Milwaukee is not one of those four teams is among a few surprises thus far this
season. Here’s a look at NBA
betting stats so far this season.

Points
Not since
the Denver Nuggets of the 1980s has an NBA team averaged over 120 points per
game for an entire season. The 1982 Nuggets hold the league record scoring
126.5 a game.
So far this
season, Brooklyn - featuring its new trifecta of stars in Kevin Durant, Kyrie
Irving, and James Harden - is putting up 122.2 per night. That, of course,
leads the league and Milwaukee isn’t far behind at 119.8.
Washington
(116.8), Denver (116.6), and Chicago (115.7) round out the top-5 in scoring.

Under,
Not Over
With those
kinds of numbers from the league’s top-scoring teams, one would think games
would be trending to the Over. That’s not the case early in the season.
Taking out
the 16 overtime games thus far, the Under is 143-128 (52.8 percent) this
season. The Lakers, ranked No. 1 in defensive efficiency, have seen the Under
go 14-7 in their games this season.
Not
surprisingly, the Over is 16-6 in Nets’ games and 14-5-1 in Nuggets’ games.

Back the
Jazz
Utah is one
of those four teams with 15-plus wins so far this season. The Jazz are 15-5,
but more importantly for bettors Utah is a league-best 14-6 ATS.
That
includes an impressive streak for the Jazz. The team had an 11-game winning
streak in which they covered the spread in each game. That includes covering as
a 6-point underdog at Milwaukee and covering two double-digit spreads.
Utah allows
the third-fewest points per game (106.3) in the league. The Jazz also lead the
NBA in rebounding with 49.4 per game. Rudy Gobert is third in the league
averaging 13.8 rebounds per game.

Streaking
Grizzlies
Memphis
started the 2020-21 season 2-6. Now, the Grizzlies haven’t lost a game since
Jan. 7. Granted, the Grizzlies did have six games postponed due to the
coronavirus, but the team has won seven straight games.
Included in
that streak are impressive wins over Brooklyn (115-110), Philadelphia
(106-104), and back-to-back blowout victories over San Antonio.
The big
reason for Memphis's recent surge is the return of point guard Ja Morant. The
Grizzlies star averages 20.7 points and 7.7 assists per game and is back after
a sprained ankle kept him out of action since Dec. 28.
The
Grizzlies have also been good to bettors. Memphis sits just behind Utah at 10-5
ATS. Bettors will continue to look at the Grizzlies for the same reasons they
like to back the Jazz. Memphis is fifth in the league in points allowed (107.3)
per game. The Grizzlies are also among the league leaders in rebounding
averaging 45.9 boards per game.
