2022
NFL Season Preview
The 2022 NFL season
will be upon us very soon and it never hurts to begin preparations in advance.
That’s especially true for NFL bettors looking to have success this
season.
Just as the Los
Angeles Rams will be looking to repeat as Super Bowl champs, bettors will be
searching for some big wins throughout the season and to profit on the season
as a whole. To help bettors do so, here is a 2022 NFL season preview.
Super
Bowl Futures
As soon as one ends,
the next one begins. The Rams captured last year’s Super Bowl and, if bettors
recall, L.A. opened at +1400 to win it all.
Heading into the
2022 NFL season, it’s the Buffalo Bills listed at +500 to win it all. QB Josh
Allen and the explosive Bills offense as well as the NFL’s top scoring and
total defense from last year return to try and bring a title back to Buffalo.
It would be the first in the history of the franchise.
Tom Brady retired
for a brief minute, then unretired, and now Tampa Bay is given +750 odds to win
a second Super Bowl in three years. Kansas City, which has eliminated the Bills
in each of the last two playoff seasons, is next on the board at +800.
What’s interesting
is that AFC West rivals the L.A. Chargers are given the exact same odds at
+800.The defending champion Rams (+900) and the Green Bay Packers (+900) are
the only other teams given better than +1000 odds.

Win
Totals - 2022 NFL Season Preview
The Bills and Bucs
have their season win totals set at 11.5, the highest in the NFL. NFL win
totals are a very popular NFL betting market. The New York Jets are
on the other end with a win total of 5.5 after having gone 4-13 in head coach
Robert Saleh’s first season.
Betting NFL win
totals comes down to a couple key factors. One is the roster. Every year, there
is turnover through free agency, trades, and the annual NFL draft. Take the
Denver Broncos as an example. Sportsbooks have paid a lot of attention
to them this offseason.
Denver went 7-10
last season primarily because the offense has lacked a quarterback ever since
Peyton Manning retired. The Broncos went all-in and traded for Seattle QB
Russell Wilson, revered as one of the NFL’s best.
Denver’s win total
is set at 9.5. The Broncos will play in what could be the toughest division in
football. That means six games against the Chiefs, Chargers, and Raiders. They
do have some easy ones - the Jets, Cardinals, and Texans all at home.
In betting NFL win
totals, it also helps to have a strong understanding of the relative skills of
both a team’s offense and defense. In Denver’s case, the Broncos had the
third-best scoring defense in the NFL last year. The addition of Wilson will
make the Denver offense that much better.
There are many ways to bet on football. Win totals is a
market that offers season long excitement.
Team To
Make the Playoffs
Every season, NFL
teams are given odds on whether or not they will make the playoffs. It’s a
simple Yes/No proposition. The trick is finding value in the market.
For example, the
Kansas City Chiefs have been a given in the postseason with Andy Reid as the
head coach and Patrick Mahomes at quarterback. Heading into the 2020 season,
it’s no surprise that the Chiefs are listed at -220 to make the playoffs.
There is better
value though and smarter bettors will find it. Take the New Orleans Saints as
an example. They will have a new coach, but QB Jameis Winston and WR Michael
Thomas both return from injuries in 2022.
The Saints still
finished 9-8 last season and with an additional playoff spot now in both
conferences New Orleans has a great shot at earning a wild card. They are
listed at more favorable odds of +120 to do so.

Division
Winners - 2022 NFL Season Preview
Betting the division
winners is another popular market. The Bills (-220), Packers (-170), and Bucs
(-320) are all big favorites to win their respective divisions. Bettors can
look at divisions like the AFC North for some bigger payouts.
Baltimore is the favorite
in the AFC North at +150. Cincy went to the Super Bowl last year and checks in
at +175. It’s a similarly interesting race in the AFC West where the Chiefs are
favored at +155 to win a seventh straight division crown. They will be
challenged by the Broncos and the Chargers which are both listed at +250 to win
the AFC West.
The Rams are also an
interesting bet at +135 to win the NFC West and Dallas is given +115 odds to
win the NFC East, which is considered one of the weakest divisions in the NFL.
