NFL
Divisional Round By the Numbers
It was a
great weekend for four teams - Buffalo, Kansas City, Green Bay, and Tampa Bay.
All four advanced to this weekend’s conference championship games. It was also
a great weekend for sharps, who caused a late line change in the Chiefs-Browns
matchup at Arrowhead Stadium.
The pros
bet heavily on Cleveland to cover at Kansas City, enough to drop the original
double-digit line to -8.5 to -9.5. The Browns did cover in a 22-17 defeat
leaving the wiseguys pretty happy. It was the ninth straight game in which
Kansas City failed to cover the spread.

Here’s a
look at other numbers from the Divisional Round playoffs.
Tom Brady
Records
When you
play in the NFL for two decades, you’re bound to hold some records. Brady has
plenty and added a few more over the weekend with Tampa Bay’s upset of the New
Orleans Saints.
Brady, who
is the only quarterback in NFL history with over 200 career wins as a starter,
won his 31st playoff game, the most ever. In the process, he threw his 75th
career playoff touchdown (another record) and became the oldest NFL player to
throw a touchdown pass.
Next week,
Brady will face Green Bay for an opportunity to win his tenth career conference
championship game. Of course, he holds the NFL record with nine conference
title wins.
A couple
weeks ago, when the Saints beat the Bears, our pick went 1-1, hitting the total
but not the spread. Go take a look at Bears
at Saints betting preview.
Packers Roll
The Rams
were supposed to give Green Bay a run for its money. Instead, the No. 1 offense
in the NFL rolled up 484 total yards and 32 points against the NFL’s No. 1
defense.
The Rams
finished the regular season ranked first in total defense and points allowed
per game. Green Bay left no doubt as to why it led the NFL with 31.8 points per
game jumping out to a 16-3 lead midway through the second quarter.
The win
gives Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers a fifth chance at leading the Packers to a
Super Bowl. It will be the first conference championship game for Rodgers at
Lambeau Field.

Wild Card Weekend by the numbers.
Mahomes
Scores First
Before
Chiefs’ QB left the game in the third quarter, he started the scoring in the
win over Cleveland capping a 10-play, 75-yard drive with a one-yard run. Prior
to game time, Mahomes was listed at +1500 to score the game’s first
touchdown.
A $500 bet
on Mahomes to score first led to an $8,000 payday for one Iowa bettor. Another
New Jersey bettor turned $125 into $2,000 on the same bet.

Packers,
Bucs Deliver
Green Bay
was a 6.5- to 7-point favorite over the Rams and delivered to the public with a
32-18 victory. Not only did the Packers cover, they also managed to push the
Total Over 45. The betting public loves favorites and Overs.
One lucky
bettor laid down $664 on a same-game - Bucs-Saints - parlay. The bettor wagered
on an alternate spread - Bucs -6.5 - Mike Evans to score the Bucs first
touchdown, and for the teams to be tied either at the half or at the end of
regulation play.
Tampa Bay
won by 10, 30-20. The Bucs scored on a field goal first, but Evans did score
the team’s first touchdown in the second quarter on a 3-yard touchdown pass
from Brady. The two teams were tied at 13-all at the end of the first half.
The result
paid the winner $140,253.20.
