NFL Week 10
By the Numbers
There were
13 games played in Week 10 of the 2020 NFL season. One team remains 9-0. That,
of course, is Pittsburgh, which won easily 36-10 over AFC North Division rival
Cincinnati.
A Rams
victory over Seattle and Arizona’s win over Buffalo (more on that later) has
created a logjam at the top of the NFC West Division. The Rams, Seahawks, and
Cardinals are all 6-3.

Bettors’
Disappointment of the Week
So, your NFL picks
have the Bills on the moneyline at +130 and/or a ticket on the Under for the
Bills-Cardinals. You’re ecstatic when Bills QB Josh Allen hits WR Stefon Diggs
who makes a diving catch for a 21-yard touchdown that puts Buffalo up 30-26
with just 34 seconds to play.
Then, your
excitement bubble is burst when Arizona QB Kyler Murray evades rushers and lays
up a 43-yard Hail Mary that WR DeAndre Hopkins somehow comes down with in the
waning seconds of the game.
The Bills
lose and Total goes Over, but that’s not all. With Arizona ahead 32-30, the
Cardinals lined up for a two-point conversion...and took a knee! The result, of
course, was a hefty payday for sportsbooks as the Cardinals failed to cover the
2.5- to 3.0-point spread (at most books).

Disappointment
Part Two
Money
poured in on the side of the Cleveland Browns as they prepared to host the
lowly Houston Texans. After opening as a 2.5-point home favorite, the line was
pushed up to 4.5 by game time.
Then, what
will likely be the most boring NFL game of the 2020 season took place. With the
Browns leading 10-7 breaks off what appears to be a 40-yard touchdown run.
Instead, Chubb stepped out of bounds at the one-yard line allowing Cleveland to
take a couple knees and win the game.
It also was
another big boost for sportsbooks, some of which had taken 75 to 80 percent of
the spread money on Cleveland to cover. That didn’t happen.

Week 9 by the numbers.
Favorites
& Underdogs
In Week 10,
favorites went an impressive 11-2 straight up. Home teams also fared well
claiming an identical 11-2 record in Week 10. Favorites went 7-5-1 ATS while
home teams also went 7-5-1 ATS.
For the
season, favorites are 98-46-1 straight up, but they are just 66-77-2 ATS.
Likewise, home teams are 75-69-1 straight up, but sport a record of 67-76-2
ATS.
Despite
totals trending downward, the Over is 75-65-5 for the season.

Turn $15
into $1,500
If you had
an extra $15 laying around last week, you could have put it down on Carolina TE
Colin Thompson. Sure, Thompson has now played for five teams in three different
pro leagues and had never even touched the ball in an NFL game.
But, you’re
$15 on Thompson to score the first touchdown of the game against Tampa Bay
would have paid you a nice $1,515. One lucky bettor actually made that bet last
week and won when Thompson came through with a seven-yard touchdown reception
from Carolina QB Teddy Bridgewater. It was Thompson’s first NFL touch.
