NFL Week 15
By the Numbers
It was
another strong week for favorites in the NFL - 10-5 before the Monday night
game - as the 2020 season inches closer to the postseason. The number of teams
that have clinched a playoff spot stands at six. Exactly half of those six
teams - Buffalo, Kansas City, and Green Bay - have clinched their respective
division.
There were
some very interesting wagers in Week 15, including one bettor that placed 35
different six-figure (yes, you read that right) bets. He had mixed results.
Here are
some of the more captivating numbers from the NFL’s Week 15.

SPORTS BETTING - BETTING PLEASURES
The
Loneliest Number
It might be
the loneliest number, but sometimes one is all you need. It was all the New
York Jets needed to avoid an 0-16 season. The Jets somehow pulled off one of
the biggest upsets of the 2020 season.
New York
was a 17-point underdog and beat the Los Angeles Rams 23-20. Those who bet the
Jets at +1000 on the moneyline were elated, but one bettor was waiting
patiently for a payoff.
In
September, a bettor laid down $100 on the Jets getting their first win of the
2020 season in Week 15. With the Jets victory on Sunday, that bet paid out
$12,100.

Week 14 by the numbers.
Pats
Streak Ends at 11
For the
first time since 2008, the New England Patriots will not be in the postseason.
The Patriots lost to Miami on Sunday.
New England
head coach Bill Belichick was 21-5 in games where he faced a rookie
quarterback. Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa was far from outstanding, but he did lead
the Dolphins to a 22-12 victory. They were a favorite of those making NFL picks.
The
Patriots must now beat Buffalo and the Jets in their final two games just to
finish .500.
Same-Game
Parlay
If you had
$1,000 on Saturday, you could have easily put it down on this Bills-Broncos
parlay bet: Buffalo to cover the 5.5-point spread, Over 59.5, and Josh Allen,
Noah Fant, Dawson Knox, and Devin Singletary each to score a touchdown. Easy
right?
Buffalo won
the game 48-19 and all four players scored. You might not have put $1,000 on
that bet, but one lucky bettor did and cashed in $493,000.
We had a Chiefs
@ Saints free pick for this one, which of course was
a push.
The Big
Push
The biggest
game of the day - Kansas City at New Orleans - ended up a push at many
sportsbooks. Most books closed at the Chiefs -3. Saints QB Drew Brees threw a
17-yard touchdown pass to Lil’Jordan Humphrey with 2:06 to play in the game to
set the final score at 32-29.

Dogs Win
It was
another big week for underdogs against the spread. Dogs covered in nine of the
fifteen games played before Monday night’s Steelers-Bengals matchup. We now
know the Bengals pulled off the SU win! That makes dogs 10 of 16 for Week 15.
The results
of Week 15 give underdogs a commanding lead for the season.
In 2020,
dogs are 120-96-2 against the spread. Road dogs are 113-103-2. The Jets were
the biggest underdog - a road underdog to boot - to win in Week 15. Other
underdogs that won were Dallas (+4), the L.A. Chargers (+3.5), and Chicago
(+3).
