NFL Week 5
by the Numbers
Upset
Frenzy
Week 5 in
the NFL was a tough one to be a favorite. Six underdogs pulled off outright
upsets in the 14 games that ended up getting played. In the eight that the
favorites ended up winning, only five were able to cover the spread.
This is the
info that bettors need, and InsiderSportsReport.com
got you covered.
In the
biggest surprise of the week, Miami took the long trip to San Francisco as an
8.5-point underdog. The Dolphins jumped all over the 49ers, taking a 30-7
halftime lead on their way to a 43-17 win. San Francisco quarterback Jimmy
Garoppolo returned from injury but was benched at halftime after two
second-quarter interceptions.

The loss
dropped the 49ers to 2-3 and into last place in the NFC West. They face an
uphill battle to make the postseason, making a return trip to the Super Bowl
unlikely. It’s just one game, but the Niners will need to right the ship soon
to get back into the playoff conversation.
In another
stunner, the Las Vegas Raiders overcame a 21-10 deficit to hand Kansas City its
first loss. The Raiders were 12.5-point road underdogs, making the result the
biggest upset of the 2020 NFL season. The sloppy loss for the defending Super
Bowl champions probably says more about the Raiders than it does the Chiefs.

Over/Under
Reversal
For the
first time in the 2020 season, the under bet paid out more than the over by an
8-6 margin.
Oddsmakers
finally caught up with the season-long trend of actual scores being higher than
the over/under lines. The cumulative actual scores still exceeded the total of
the betting lines, but only by .7 points a game.
Baltimore
held Cincinnati to a field goal, and the teams combined for just 30 points, 21
below the betting line. Carolina and Atlanta also had a low scoring contest, a
23-16 win by the Panthers. The final score came over two touchdowns short of
the 54-point over/under.
In what was
expected to be a defensive battle with an over/under of 44 points, Pittsburgh
outscored Philadelphia 38-29. It was the largest discrepancy of the week
between the betting line and the actual score of the game. This is the
information that will help you profit
on sports!
For the
fourth consecutive week, Dallas was involved in a game that exceeded the
over/under betting line by double digits.
Perfect
Records Dwindling
The number
of undefeated teams fell to four, and there are still three winless teams
following Week 5. Carolina’s defeat of Atlanta (0-5) prompted Falcons owner
Arthur Blank to fire his head coach and general manager. Eventually, the ranks
of the undefeated will shrink, as 4-0 Tennessee takes on 4-0 Pittsburgh on Oct.
25.
Later in
the season, the Titans will also face the 4-0 Green Bay Packers. Seattle, the
only other team without a loss, is the lone one that won’t face another
undefeated team. Green Bay is the only remaining team that has covered the
point spread in every game this season. Remember that besides your everyday
spreads and totals, there are tons of NFL
betting options.
They all
face a long season in an attempt to duplicate a feat that hasn’t been
accomplished since 1973. The Miami Dolphins were the last team to complete an
undefeated season after defeating Washington in the Super Bowl.
